Chapter 836
Chapter 836:.
Soon, Dolores heard the robotic voice on the other end of the line, “I’m sorry, but the subscriber you dialed is off…”
She looked at Theresa with the phone in her hand, “Don’t worry. Your phone is probably dead.”
Theresa nodded. Reaching out, she wanted to hold the baby, “Let me hold him.”
Now the baby could show his face. As Theresa held him, he glanced around and his big, round eyes rolled.
Theresa rubbed his head, “This little guy’s hair is black as ink. He has a lot of hair.”
Dolores also thought her son’s hair was pretty good. When Andrew and Amanda were little, their hair didn’t look very good. It got better as they slowly grew up.
At that moment, Dolores’ phone started vibrating. She pulled out the phone and saw Matthew’s caller ID. She swiped her finger to answer it.
Soon, she heard Matthew’s voice: “Get out.”
For a moment, Dolores didn’t understand, “What?”
“I’m at the door.”
Since Abbott had asked for leave, Matthew had been quite busy. He always left home early and returned late. Suddenly, he came back in the afternoon, which made Dolores shocked, “Why are you back at this hour.”

“Going out.”
Dolores was speechless.
“You can go out. I’ll take care of Joshua for you,” Theresa said with a smile.
Dolores said into the phone, “Okay, I got it.” After that, she hung it up and said to Theresa, “If you want to come out, please let my mom take care of him.”
“I know. Go ahead,” Theresa said.
Dolores went upstairs and grabbed a jacket before heading out. A black car was parked on the side of the road. She walked over, opened the door and sat down inside, “You’re back. Why didn’t you come in?” Matthew turned to give her a look.
Under his gaze, Dolores felt quite uncomfortable, “What are you looking at?”.
“I’m trying to find out if you’re unhappy.” Otherwise, she wouldn’t have called him so suddenly and said those words to him. He reached out to tug her hand, “Is it because I’ve been so busy lately and can’t join you, that’s why it bothers you?”
Dolores patted his hand and said earnestly, “Cut the crap. I have something to tell you.”noveldrama
“Ehn. Go ahead. I’m all ears.” He looked at her without blinking, which made Dolores feel that he wasn’t serious at all. She said more seriously, “I’m serious.”
Matthew said, “So am I.”
After a moment’s thought, Dolores said, “Are you coming back to the company later?”
Matthew replied, “No, I won’t.”
“We’re going to call Dad and have dinner with him out tonight.”
“Why, has something happened?” Looking at her solemn face, Matthew was sure something had happened. Otherwise, she wouldn’t suddenly suggest it.
“Dad could be sick. He’s been keeping it from us,” Dolores said.
Matthew’s face darkened. His eyes deepened, “How did you know?”
If it were a minor illness, Dolores wouldn’t have called him out on purpose and with such seriousness.
“When Coral was cleaning her bedroom, she accidentally dropped her medicine…. I checked the medicine on the Internet and found out it was to cure cancer,” Dolores said quietly.
Matthew didn’t react fiercely, but he felt very uncomfortable. He let go of Dolores’ hand and was silent for a long time as he sat in the driver’s seat.
Dolores grabbed his hand and held it tightly. She comforted him, “Please don’t worry too much. It’s probably not serious. Right now we should talk to Dad and ask him about his current condition.”
Matthew seemed to have a hard time accepting this news. After a long while, he turned to look at her and asked, “Did you see him clearly?”
It wasn’t because he didn’t believe what she was saying. It was only because he was unwilling to believe it.
“I wouldn’t speak to you recklessly if I hadn’t seen it clearly. It’s my fault. I found something wrong with him earlier, but he told me he just had a cold. He also doesn’t hug Joshua as much as he used to. I thought he was afraid of infecting Joshua, so I didn’t pay attention to him…. It’s my fault.”
“It’s not your fault.” Matthew pulled out his phone and dialed Jayden’s number.
The call didn’t connect until a while later.
“Dad, where are you?” Matthew said immediately as soon as he got the answer, “I want to meet you. Now.”
Normally, Matthew rarely called Jayden. Judging by his tone, Jayden knew he had probably sensed something. He let out a sigh and said, “Let’s meet outside.”
“Okay.” Matthew gave him an address and hung up the phone. He tossed the phone into the center console and started the engine. The car roared away.
Dolores knew he probably needed some time to calm down right then, so she didn’t continue to comfort him. They could talk after they met with Jayden.
In the quiet compartment, they could clearly hear each other’s breathing.
The car was parked in front of a tea house. As soon as they got out and entered, they could smell the faint aroma of tea. A waiter came over to greet them. Matthew said, “Please put us in a quiet box. A pot of Chinese oolong tea, please.”
“This way, please.” The waiter led them to the innermost box, “This box is the quietest.”
The decoration of the box was antique and elegant. Matthew nodded in satisfaction.
He and Dolores sat down. Soon the waiter arrived with a tea set and set them on the tea table.
Dolores said, “We want to be here alone. You don’t have to stay and serve us.”
The waiter left. When Dolores was learning design, she studied the tea ceremony to get a sense of peace of mind. Although she was not as skilled, she still remembered the consequences. She heated the tea with boiled water, took a look at the color and smelled the aroma, put some tea leaves, poured the water and brewed the tea in one go.
After a while, the box was filled with a faint aroma of tea. Matthew gradually calmed down.
Creak…
The door to the box was pushed open. Jayden walked in.
Dolores put down the teapot and stood up, “Dad, here you came.”
Jayden motioned for her to sit down. He sat down at the tea table and looked at the tea. He asked, “Did you make it?” Dolores said yes.
“Have you ever learned the tea ceremony before?”
“I went to several classes. I only know a little about it.” Dolores poured him a cup of tea.
Jayden took it and took a sip. He asked, “Do you know him?”
Dolores glanced at Matthew and replied, “Yes.”
“Why have you kept him from us?” Matthew was now quite quiet. His voice was extremely low.
Jayden let out a sigh, “I was planning to tell.”
I knew I could keep it from him for a moment, but not for a lifetime.
