Chapter 825
Chapter 825:.
Elizabeth felt lonely and glanced at the housekeeper who was clearing the table. She asked, “Why did you become a housekeeper? I thought you were already of age to be a grandmother.”
Bertha replied, “I have two sons. The older son got married and had children, so I am already a grandmother.”
“And your youngest son?” asked Elizabeth again.
“My youngest son is not married yet,” Bertha answered.
Bertha answered all of Elizabeth’s questions without elaborating. Elizabeth became bored after chatting for a while. She sighed softly and wheeled her wheelchair back to the house.
The house was also empty. She picked up the photo on the table and stared at the picture of herself when she was still young with her husband beside her.
She was sitting in a chair with her husband standing behind her. Through this photo, she seemed to see herself when she was young.
“I am old in an instant.” Elizabeth said sadly, “I see that Armand is unhappy and angry with me. He probably hates me in his heart. But I just want him to have a son so that the Bernie Family will have at least one descendant. am I wrong?”
The person in the photo was still smiling and no one answered him.
He hugged the photo, “Is it time for me to come and join you?”
“Hey…”
Elizabeth stayed alone in the house for half a day. Armand returned quite early today and Bertha had prepared lunch before he walked in the door.
Elizabeth was very glad to see him home again. She said, “Hurry up. Wash your hands and eat. I purposely asked Bertha to make the food you like…”. A clicking sound was heard.
Armand entered the house and closed the door before she could finish her sentence.
Elizabeth gaped and stood still in her seat.
Bertha put all the dishes on the table and walked over, “It’s time to eat.”
Elizabeth’s eyelids twitched as she rolled her wheelchair, “Tell him to eat.”
Bertha went to knock on the door, “Mr. Bernie, the food is ready.”
“Wait a bit.”
Elizabeth sat down and took a look at the succulent food on the table, but she had no appetite.
Bertha approached, “She’ll be here in a moment.”
Elizabeth waved her hand and said, “I understand.”
After a while, Armand changed out of the suit he was wearing and came out in simple house clothes. He looked slightly thinner in his baggy clothes.
He sat down at the table and began to eat.
Elizabeth put a piece of pork ribs on his plate when she saw that he was somewhat happier, “This is what you like to eat best.”
Armand continued to eat, but neither tasted the plate of pork ribs, nor did he eat the piece Elizabeth had put on his plate. He finished his meal quickly and got up to leave the dining room.
“Armand…”
“Bertha, the clothes I changed are in the bathroom. Please help me wash them.” Armand interrupted Elizabeth and said to Bertha. Bertha said, “I’m going to get them now.”
Armand instructed her, “Don’t go into this room without me.”
“I know,” Bertha replied.
Bertha took Armand’s dirty clothes. Armand entered the room and closed the door. He barely spoke to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth sat at the dining room table and stared at the piece of pork rib I had put on her plate. She hadn’t eaten, not even the ones on the plate.
He turned his wheelchair around and went to his room because he was sleepy.
In another city, Boyce returned home once he had settled all the affairs. The TV on the wall was still playing a drama while Jasmine lay in bed and dozed off with the remote control in her hand.noveldrama
Boyce reached over and took the remote from her hand. He softly called her name, “Jasmine?”.
Jasmine’s eyelids twitched as she opened her eyes and stared up at him, “You’re back?”
“Yes, I’m back.” Boyce stroked her forehead, “You don’t have a fever again today, do you?”.
Jasmine sat up, “Buy me a ticket for tomorrow. I have to get back.”
Boyce said, “I’ll take you to lunch first, then we’ll just go buy a phone…”
“I know, and then we go fast.” Jasmine had been home all day and was looking forward to going out to unwind.
Boyce asked her, “Are you hungry?”
Jasmine shook her head and said, “No, it’s because I’m so bored at home.”
Boyce said, “I’m sorry. I’m too busy…”
Jasmine covered his mouth, “Don’t say you’re sorry. You’ve already said it many times. If you’re sorry for me, then you should spend more on me. Since I’ve come all this way to see you, buy me more things today.”
Boyce said, “Okay.”
Jasmine rolled her eyes, “How boring you are.” Boyce was speechless.
What was wrong with him?
How could he be so boring?
“Jasmine, hey…”
“All right, all right, you’re funny. Let’s go now. I’m hungry already.” Jasmine pulled him and went outside.
They walked out of the building and got into the car. Boyce said, “A colleague introduced me to a restaurant and said it was tasty. I’ll take you there.”
“It’s up to you,” Jasmine said.
It didn’t take long for the car to arrive at the restaurant. The restaurant was like the one where Jasmine had first invited Boyce to dinner. It was neither fancy nor romantic, but a very ordinary restaurant.
Jasmine thought he would take her to dinner somewhere romantic. After all, she had come to visit him.
Boyce also seemed a little surprised, as his colleague said that the place with delicious food was actually a little better than the street vendor.
“Jasmine…”
Jasmine smiled and said, “This is very nice. Let’s go downstairs.”
She couldn’t have any anticipation in Boyce as he was a straight guy and not romantic at all.
