Chapter 829
Chapter 829:.
As Armand hurried to the scene, Bertha was still anxiously questioning passersby in the park. Elizabeth had disappeared under her care. She was afraid to take responsibility, so she almost cried with anxiety.
Armand came up to her quickly, “Have you looked all over the place?”
“Yes, I’ve looked everywhere, but I haven’t been able to find her yet. Her legs are too weak to walk, how can she disappear like this?” Bertha felt very worried. She said anxiously, “Her legs are not strong, how could she have disappeared so quickly?”
“How long has she been missing?” asked Armand.
“No more than an hour.” Bertha feared that something might happen to her, so she informed Armand in the first place. Therefore, the time was not very long.
If an adult disappeared in less than 24 hours, the police did not file the case. “Let’s split up to find her. You go home and see. Contact me by phone if you find her.”
Bertha said, “Okay, I’ll be right back.”
Armand was very calm. After instructing Bertha to go home, he went to find the management office. The park belonged to the community management team. All entrances and exits had cameras installed, so he went to check the security footage.
When they learned that someone from the community was missing, they were very excited and helped find her. Bertha said Elizabeth was missing for less than an hour. Therefore, reviewing the recordings during this period was not a difficult task.
They soon found Elizabeth’s figure on the recording.
Elizabeth came out of the park with her wheelchair when Bertha went to buy some pastries. It could be determined that Elizabeth was no longer in the park, so Armand went out to look for her outside the park.
Some people from the community management team helped him to find Elizabeth.
“Let’s split up and search.” Armand said, “Her legs are weak, so she wouldn’t go very far.”
Three or four of them split up to find her.
An hour passed and there was no sign of Elizabeth. One of the men said, “Is it possible she went somewhere else? If not, why did she suddenly leave the park alone?”.
This person’s words struck Armand’s mind. Elizabeth was not in this neighborhood, so she must have gone somewhere else, but Elizabeth rarely interacted with people. Relatives had to stop contacting them because of her parents, so she wouldn’t have gone to anyone’s house.
Now, there was nowhere to continue the search. She could only try everywhere. She went to her previous home, the place where she lived before she graduated. The house they lived in now was bought by Armand after he made some money when he became a lawyer.
This place was already very run down and not many people lived there. Wires were moving in a complicated way, clothes were hanging outside the windows. Underwear and socks were everywhere to be seen, and there was no cleanliness at all.
Armand went to the house, but didn’t see her. He held up his phone with Elizabeth’s picture on the screen and asked if anyone had seen her.
Everyone said they hadn’t seen her at all.
After making sure she wasn’t there, he got into the car and began to feel increasingly anxious. She wasn’t here, where could she be?
He started the car, turned around and drove back. As he drove past the school he used to go to, where the old campus had been abandoned, he thought he saw Elizabeth’s figure in front of the big steel gate.
He stopped the car and glanced back. He saw that it was indeed Elizabeth standing in front of the gate. He immediately got out of the car and walked toward her.
“Why did you come here? Armand felt a sudden relief because he was glad to find her. However, he felt angry that she had run off alone without telling anyone, which made everyone worry about her.
Elizabeth turned around and said with a smile, “Are you out of school? I came to pick you up after school.”
“What are you talking about?” Armand frowned, they hadn’t been living here long already.
“I…” Elizabeth was confused again, “What do I want to do now?”
“Let’s go home.” Armand pushed his wheelchair.
Suddenly, Elizabeth slapped his thigh, “I’ve come to get you! There’s a sports competition at your school today, so I’ve come to watch you compete.” Elizabeth’s words startled Armand. What was wrong with him?noveldrama
When they got into the car, Armand called Bertha to stop looking for Elizabeth because he had already found her, “Inform the management team to stop looking.”
Bertha said she understood.
Armand sent Elizabeth home and Bertha said gratefully, “Good thing they found her, otherwise I would have been scared to death.” Armand pushed Elizabeth back to her room.
Then he called Bertha into the living room.
“Has Grandma been behaving abnormally lately?”
Bertha thought carefully: There doesn’t seem to be any abnormal behavior…but she’s not totally normal. Sometimes, she forgets the things she told me to do.
Bertha seemed to have thought of something. She said, “It’s not the first time I’ve taken care of the elderly. I have met some elderly people who have the same condition as her, who constantly forget things. Maybe…”
“Don’t say it. I’ll take her to the hospital to get her checked out.” Armand knew what she meant, but he refused to believe it.
Even though he was angry and pissed off at her stubbornness, he didn’t want her to get sick at all.
“Armand, you need to treat Theresa better, why don’t you see her lately?” Elizabeth pushed her wheelchair out of the room.
Armand looked at her and clenched his fists, “Grandma, what are you talking about?”
“Didn’t you marry Theresa? You have to treat her right. Phoebe is not a good woman. She left you because she thinks we’re poor. I hate her. Now that you’re married to Theresa, you have to treat her right and have a child quickly.” Elizabeth seemed to speak in a confused manner, but Armand understood everything she said.
She was talking about different subjects at the same time, so it wasn’t normal.
Armand took her to the hospital. He took a rug and covered her legs. Then he pushed her towards the door.
“Where are you taking me?” asked Elizabeth.
“To the hospital,” Armand said.
Elizabeth tilted her head and looked up at him, “Are you sick?”
Armand said, “No, it’s not me, it’s you.”
Elizabeth suddenly became agitated, “I’m not sick. I’m fine. I’m not going to the hospital.”
“You’d better go check.”
“I’m not going, I’m not sick.” Elizabeth tugged on the door frame and wouldn’t let go.
