Chapter 337
Chapter 337:
Before the video was restored, they could still paste some sections of it, where they saw Benjamin before. But they didn’t know Benjamin then, so it hardly meant anything to them.
Besides, there were dozens of rented rooms in Lanxi City. It wouldn’t be unusual for Benjamin to live in Caesar’s apartment as a rented student. So Joseph had no suspicion in the first place.
But more and more evidence indicated that Benjamin was involved in the accident.
“Mr. Joseph. I suggest you let the police handle this if Benjamin is involved.”
Magnus’ voice rang out in the room.
Joseph said somberly. “Not now, keep investigating. As for Benjamin, we can deal with him later.”
“Are you worried that Miss Hayden might…?”
Joseph frowned, but didn’t respond to that. “How about another errand I assigned you?”
He was referring to the imposter who claimed to be Noah’s mother. Her real name was Lola Holmes and she must have received instructions from someone. Joseph had to find out who she was, otherwise there could be serious consequences.
“We found her, she works in a bar now, but a wealthy merchant had her as a mistress, so she hasn’t turned up in a while. We have people watching the bar 24/7, hopefully they will bring us good news soon.”
Joseph nodded, somber.
“You know what to do when you find her.”
It had been a long time since Magnus had seen such a creepy expression on Joseph. Startled, he nodded hastily. “I know.”
Joseph read the files in his hands after Mark left, he was at a crossroads.
True, he told Magnus, he gave Benjamin a break because of Hayden, but that wasn’t the only reason. He did it partly for Hayden and partly because he didn’t believe Benjamin would murder a person.
Once the police got involved, sooner or later they would discover the rape he committed off campus as a private detectorist. And when they did, Benjamin could be expelled from the university.
As for Caesar, he could ask Benjamin himself.
After taking care of his work for the day, he looked at the time. It was three o’clock, that would give him enough time to pick up the kids and ask Benjamin about Caser.
At N City Hospital.
“These tangerines are so good!”.
Lying on the bed, Andrea Lane said sweetly to Rebekah.
Peeling an apple next to the bed, Rebekah smiled tenderly as she heard Andrea say, “If you like them, I’ll buy more later.”
“More?” Benjamin lifted his head from behind his laptop. “Can’t you see how puffy her lips are? She got them like that eating those tangerines, I’m afraid she won’t be able to go to the bathroom if she eats more.”
“You’re the one who won’t be able to go to the bathroom.” Andrea looked at him angrily, “You’re just jealous that your mother bought tangerines for me and I’m not going to share them with you.”
“Fine, then buy them more, Mom. That way I’ll visit her in the anorectal department.”
“Benjamin.” Rebekah looked at him, “Watch your tongue when you talk to a girl.”
“Listen to your mother, Benjamin.” Andrea looked at Benjamin contemptuously.
“Benjamin twisted his mouth and closed the laptop. “I’ll leave, since I’m not welcome here.”
“Wait, where are you going?” Andrea asked him.
“It’s none of your business. My mother is now yours, what am I still doing here, I’m not staying anymore, bye.”
“I don’t…” Andrea stammered, “I, I was just kidding…”.
Rebekah took note of his willingness to keep Benjamin with him. Amused, she thought Andrea was very cute.
“Don’t tease her, Benjamin. Andrea is a straight girl, you know that better than anyone after being her classmate for three years.”
Andrea paused, confused.
With a sly look, Benjamin said complacently. “That’s not being direct, that’s being stupid.”
Then he looked at Andrea. “There’s a seminar at the school tonight and I’ve been summoned. Later text me what you want for breakfast tomorrow.”noveldrama
Andrea realized she had been tricked. But when she heard the end of what Benjamin said, she smiled.
She kept smiling even when Benjamin was gone.
Rebekah looked at her helplessly. “You really like him, don’t you?”
Andrea paused, then grabbed her comforter shyly. “He’s a great guy.”
“That’s the right answer.” Rebekah passed her the apple, “Here, eat the apple. I’m not buying tangerines tonight, I’m buying some lavender tea.”
“Sure, I love anything you buy.”
Rebekah shook her head helplessly.
Benjamin saw Joseph at the parking lot exit when he left the hospital. He wanted to shy away from him, but could only choose to confront him as it was too late.
“What are you doing here? Hayden’s not here.”
“I’m not here for her.” Joseph studied him, “I have to ask you something.”
“What is it?” Benjamin grabbed his bag nervously.
“Half a year ago…”. Noticing people coming and going, Joseph frowned, “This isn’t a good place to talk, we need to find a quiet place. Where are you going, I’ll take you.”
Benjamin regained his composure and said, “To the university.”
From the way Joseph spoke, Benjamin guessed he wasn’t here for his mother. If he knew Rebekah was Benjamin’s mother, he wouldn’t have been speaking so calmly.
“Okay.” Joseph nodded, “The car is in the parking lot.”
The automatic hospital door opened as they drove into the parking lot. Out of it stepped a woman dressed in green with a gray duffel bag in her hand.
Rebekah saw Benjamin immediately. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and yelled out to him. “Benjamin!”
Then, synchronized, Benjamin and Joseph turned their heads.
